Alternative Wedding Photographer: Quirky & Non-Traditional

As an alternative wedding photographer in Northern Ireland, I would be aiming for something a bit different and quirky hence the word alternative. Your wedding day is going to be one of the greatest days of both your lives and you’ll never forget how you felt walking up the aisle and you’ll remember the tears and laughter throughout the day. Alternative can also mean shooting as a quirky wedding photographer in Northern Ireland which is something a bit different and unconventional, bride and grooms after something a bit different which I look forward to shooting!

Ideas for non-traditional or alternative wedding photos

There are many great ideas for non-traditional or alternative. Some brides and grooms aren’t interested in anything fancy and a three-course meal that possibly costs thousands of pounds. Perhaps you're after something laid back and more great chill-out vibes. Some ideas are listed below.

  • A hog roast as opposed to the usual meal.

  • No top table, no speeches, very relaxed and rustic vibe.

  • Belfast City Hall and then the after do in your garden if big enough eg marquee, band, BBQ, bar, very relaxed.

  • No big aisle or seating plan, long benches, fish and chips or burger and chips. No first dance.

  • My friend got married at City Hall and had a reception in the Empire Music Hall with a buffet. Best wedding I've ever been to

  • Hog roast, no speeches or first dances. We had music but didn't want to be confined to a usual meal and timetable. It was perfect! All in that part of it probably cost £4000

  • A welcome buffet (when doing photos) and a BBQ later on. Everyone commented how it was great as no one was hungry and everyone was enjoying the chill-out vibe with the guitarist we'd booked. We also had a caricaturist to keep folks entertained before the post-BBQ and speeches. We had a drag queen cabaret because it was during Covid when we couldn't have a disco but I'd genuinely highly recommend it as everyone had a ball.

  • A party tent and B&Q. We were lucky we got a good enough day weather-wise, as we were going to use more of the garden however we were so pleased it was all under one roof as it would have been a lot more clearing up the next day. It’s amazing what you think you need but end up not doing/using and honestly nobody noticed any difference the feedback was everyone had a fab day without the stuffiness and all without a huge price tag.

Quirky Wedding Photographer

What is a quirky wedding photographer in Northern Ireland? This could be something different to the norm, something more off-beat than an alternative wedding photographer. Maybe you are going for a quirky theme to your wedding. An example might be a Star Wars movie-themed wedding or a rock and roll (roll ‘n’ roll) type wedding where everyone or most guests are inspired by rock and roll singers of the past.

Perhaps instead of the normal type of wedding photos, you want some quirky type images and photos for your portraits. An example of this could be shooting through a prism, a CD or a bronze pipping to give that quirky feel and look to your photos.

What is a Quirky Wedding Photographer?

In a nutshell similar to alternative and the opposite of traditional! As stated above something a bit different, unique, fun and relaxed.
