Belmont Hotel Wedding Photos

The couple booked me for both wedding photos and video. The couple’s Belmont Hotel wedding was stunning as the reception was held in the large suite and I must say this was the first time I photographed as a wedding photographer and videographer. The hotel is at the front as you drive in past acres of land which might be good for photos (but just slightly too cold for this wedding).

Belmont Hotel Wedding Reception

The couple mingled with guests for a bit before we decided that we should take some family and bridal photos at the front of the hotel. I prefer to photograph the family first then they can go off back to the lounge. We got a few photos here but would have liked a few more but because it was a bit cold.

Afterwards, I set up the camera to video the bride and groom’s entrance for speeches as this was being filmed. I had the camera I operate and also the second camera filming wide on the stage area so slightly raised. The bagpiper Francie Strain piped ( I think that’s what it’s called) the couple into the suite while guests stood and cheered.

The speeches were great as the bride’s father made a speech as well as the best man, the groom’s brother and the groom himself Scott. All with some great craic and humour as you’d expect with the groom explaining some of the Scottish outfits.

I took photos of the guests at their tables in the suite and the next thing you know the DJ was setting up for music. The DJ entertained the kids for about half an hour before the bride and groom’s first dance which is great to see as most of the time there is very little entertainment. The couple wanted the first dance filmed with a few photos afterwards so I set up my video equipment as usual.

Before we arrived at the Belmont House

Let’s take a step back until the morning when I drove to Gemma’s house in the morning for some bridal preparation photos as all the girls were there getting ready. You can view more wedding photos in Lurgan too.

Bridal Preparations

The make-up artist (MUA) was already away by the time I got there so must have been there very early morning, leaving their hairstylist. First I took photos of some details and the dresses hanging up in the living room. I usually do this as early as possible as later on it could be a bit busy. Later on in the morning, we got some photos of the girls in their pyjamas as some had their titles on their backs ie bridesmaids. I always like to get a few before changing into their dresses.

Gemma’s son arrived later on in the morning kitted out in Scottish clothes including a kilt. Gemma’s dad also arrived with a kilt too, in fact, the groom and groomsmen were all kitted out in Scottish uniforms. The bride’s dad arrived in a vintage Ford car to take Gemma to the Church later on for the ceremony. In the meantime, he took the kids for a drive around the block and we got a couple of photos beside the I Do Wedding Cars too.

I took some photos of the bridal party getting ready in the house and a few at the front beside the car and then when the bride arrived just a couple before I headed off. I left a bit early as the couple wanted the ceremony filmed although there were a couple of photos too. It takes a bit of time to set up the camera and audio for wedding videography in Banbridge otherwise the sound is not great. I got a couple of photos of the groom Scott, the best man and then the groomsmen before the bride and bridesmaids arrived.

Ceremony

There were about 70-80 guests at the ceremony and Methodist Church in Queen St was quite small but not too small that you can’t move about. The ceremony commenced with the bagpiper piping the bridal party in with Gemma with her dad walking down the aisle. This was a bit different too as there were two ministers one was conducting the ceremony and the other conducted the marriage. They both worked quite well together and made proceedings more interesting, I thought. There was also a piano player to the right of the church. The whole bridal party was at the top of the church sometimes in a semi-circle which made filming the ceremony quite difficult so I had to move around a little. Thankfully I had another B camera filming wide on a tripod for another angle.

There was a reading by the past pasture of the church. The bride and groom said their vows and commitments before a big cheer from the guests. Then the couple with parents, nanny, best man and maid of honour went to the back room to sign the marriage registrar while the piano player was entertaining the guests.

Portraits

The bride, groom and myself headed to Brownlow House for some bridal photos. It was October so was a little cold. We took some outside at the front and around the side overlooking the building before making our way inside. Hope you have a great future together and thanks for booking me as your wedding photographer, not forgetting the video too.
