Wedding Photography Locations: Outside & Inside Places

A list of wedding photography locations in Northern Ireland and Ireland and if yours is not listed here please get in touch with me as I'd love to work in your wedding location. I’ve worked throughout the country and if you’d like to chat about wedding photo locations contact me, below is more info on wedding photo locations to see if I work in that area. Even though NI is quite small the country still offers some magical places for wedding photos.

A list of my wedding photography locations is below, click on a link to check out the individual town or city wedding place I have worked in which contains some information from that town or city. It also includes wedding pictures in the locations mentioned below and places to take wedding photos. As you’d expect in NI the country is quite small compared to other countries but offers many beautiful places for your wedding day in the six counties.

There are plenty of places to take wedding photos and pictures in the various towns and cities in the six counties in Northern Ireland. Ideally, a place outside at the hotel or wedding location itself is best but this sometimes doesn’t work out due to the weather. In most cases, if this happens a place inside the hotel will work out.

As said earlier here are some places to take wedding pictures in each county in NI that might interest you. Click on a link to visit the page associated with the town or city for further reading and viewing some pictures. For any enquiries don’t hesitate to contact me.

Locations of Parks to take Wedding Pictures in

Parks and Garden wedding photo locations in NI are plenty in all six counties but might be a little hard to find sometimes which is why I’ve compiled this list for brides and grooms seeking the best places for a wedding photoshoot. Some of these are Botanic Gardens, Tannaghmore Gardens, Lurgan Park, Ness Country Park, Glenariff Forest Park, Dungannon Park, Shaftesbury Park and The Ring of Gullion.

Wedding Picture Location

Botanic Gardens

There’s no doubt about it one of the best wedding picture locations in Belfast is Botanic Gardens which is a great spot as it’s central in Belfast and close to Queens University too. It was slightly raining as the limo driver drove into the gardens and parked in front of the palm house. I’m not too sure who had umbrellas but they were put to good use on the day as it was raining slightly which is typical NI weather I’m afraid. She started with a few outside and close to the greenhouse or palm house as it’s known before it started to rain a little too heavily and ended up in the palm house. Look at the fab couples botanical gardens wedding photos and as you can see there are plenty of areas within the gardens to take photos in.

How far is the Botanic Gardens from Belfast City Centre?

The Botanic Gardens is about a 30-minute walk from Belfast City centre. It is within walking distance of the City Hospital.

Best Place for Wedding Photoshoot

Tannaghmore Gardens

In County Armagh, there are many locations but the best place for a wedding photoshoot as you have both Portadown and Lurgan (the area is called Craigavon) and there are both Tannaghmore Gardens and Lurgan Park which I’ve heard may allow you to take photos outside too and also Armagh City where you have Palace Demesne Public Park right beside the city hotel within walking distance. I had the joy of taking Ciara and Patrick’s wedding photos in Tannaghmore and even though I live in Portadown there were still a few great areas within the gardens I felt were stunning in producing nice wedding photos.

Best Wedding Photoshoot Places

Lurgan Park

Lurgan Park is one of the best wedding photoshoot places and is a very handy location as it’s meant to be the largest park in Northern Ireland if I remember correctly. The gates are closed so you can park outside and walk in for some photos. I’m not too sure if the council will open the gates to allow any limos and cars in. I’ve explored the park many times in the past and there are several areas in Lurgan Park where could take some photos. There is a fountain and plenty of large paths with trees on either side. Brownlow House overlooks the lake and Lurgan Park is beside the lake.

Wedding Photography Place

Armagh Palace Demesne

Armagh has a few wedding photography places and this is Palace Demesne is right beside the council buildings and also Armagh City Hotel which is very handy as you can have your reception in the hotel and make your way to the Palace Demesne which would make a great wedding photoshoot location.

Places to take Wedding Photos

Ness Country Park

Londonderry has many places to take wedding photos in and this is Ness Country Park which is a great place but there are lots more including St Columb’s Park St so I would love to explore more in the county. In County Antrim/Down where the two counties join and are mixed there are some wonderful wedding photo spots in Lisburn such as Lisburn Park.

A place for Wedding Pictures

Glenariff Forest Park

Glenariff Forest Park has a few places for wedding pictures in County Antrim. We only spent a short time here at this wedding but we photographed the families and bridal party here. Keep in mind it is a bit bumpy and has some hills so not ideal for wheelchair users in case some guests are wheelchair-bound.

Wedding Photo Shoot Location

Dungannon Park

In Dungannon, there are a couple of wedding photo shoot locations and this is Dungannon Park which is a great wedding place for pictures and has a free-to-use park. The Argory is a paid wedding location at about £120. About 15 minutes away in Carrickfergus which has Shaftesbury Park.

Lake and River Wedding Picture Locations

In County Down, there are a few wedding picture locations and I’ve shot at Flagstaff Viewpoint in Newry just beside the water. Just two are Flagstaff Viewpoint and River Foyle.

Wedding Photo Places

Flagstaff Viewpoint

Lots of wedding photo places and in particular Flagstaff Viewpoint can be a little difficult to get to due to the windy roads so might be a bit hard for a limo driver but well worth it in the end as it’s the best place for a wedding photoshoot. You will be well pleased with your wedding photos! It is located on Fatham Hill and you have stunning views of Carlingford Lough, the Mourne Mountains and the Cooley Mountains which is well worth heading here if in Newry or Warrenpoint. River Foyle in Derry is also a beautiful spot. It is right beside the Irish border so is popular for brides and grooms from both sides of the border. It is also quite popular for people in south Armagh even though it is a different county but then again a beautiful place is still beautiful and doesn’t matter what county it is in

Clare Glen

Also, check out Clare Glen in Tandragee close to Banbridge as you have large paths along the River Cusher so you have plenty of space for your bridal party photos. There is a wooden bridge you can walk over to get to even more beautiful areas within the glen.

Places for Castle Wedding Photos

In County Antrim, I’ve shot in two places for wedding photoshoot locations including the major city in Northern Ireland Belfast Castle. You also have Carrickfergus Castle, Brownlow House and Castle Coole.

County Fermanagh has a great wedding photo location in Enniskillen called Castle Coole which is a large mansion country house with acres of land owned by the council. There are plenty of areas here for you to take wedding photos.

Brownlow House

Brownlow House also sometimes called Brownlow Castle has a great place for wedding pictures around the front and side of the premises. It’s also stunning inside as we took some wedding pictures recently here and they were great. I even supplied the couple with some prints too. You get the architecture and old building structure of an old house which makes for very rustic wedding photos.

Best Places for Wedding Photos in the City

A city wedding photography location in Belfast is the Cathedral Quarter which is a well-known and photographed location in the centre of the city so can be a bit difficult to get to. If you love the city centre you may want to stop off here for a couple of wedding photos. You’ll not be able to park here but if you have a driver they can stop for a bit, let you out to take photos and you can get back into the car. Also, there is the Peace Bridge and Bogside Murals in Derry.

Forest Wedding Photoshoot Locations

You also have Newcastle in County Down where there are lots of locations, really too many to mention here but what about along the beach or in Tollymore Forest? Both are ideal places to take wedding pictures. Of course, you need the correct weather conditions for both. Some of these are Drum Manor Forest Park and Parkanaur Forest Park.

Drum Manor Forest Park

Cookstown offers great wedding picture locations in both Omagh as the town has Drum Manor Forest Park. The park is a bit of a distance from Cookstown town centre as it’s out in the countryside but well worth it as the location boasts several areas for wedding photos. You could perhaps call this a castle location too as it has old dericilt buildings similar to castles but I’m sure this was a mansion at one stage. It is south of the Sperrin Mountains and west of Lough Neagh.

Indoor Wedding Photoshoot Locations

Unfortunately due to weather and rain, we’ve had no other option other than an indoor wedding photoshoot locations and places in hotel itself, which includes the ceremony. This has happened only a couple of times and the brides and grooms were happy with the result but it’s always good to have a plan B for places for indoor wedding photoshoots in Northern Ireland! Various indoor photo shoot locations can be used for wedding purposes. If you are stuck ask the manager or coordinator for advice on where is the best indoor location.

Wedding Photo Locations

Also, wedding photo locations include Castlewellan, Antrim, Larne, Bushmills, Newtownards and Glenarm.

Wedding Photoshoot Locations

Below are some ideas for wedding photoshoot locations, as stated earlier there are many locations you can choose from click on an image to check out the wedding locations.

Pre-Wedding Photoshoot Locations

Northern Ireland also offers great pre-wedding photoshoot locations which is the photo shoot before your wedding. Most professionals offer this too like I do as most of my wedding packages have a pre-wedding shoot. This can be in any place you want and is great for a variety of reasons including promoting and getting people excited about your up-and-coming wedding, save-the-date type cards and decor as I’ve seen a few brides and grooms use the actual pre-wedding photos on their decor beside their welcome signs. The place itself could be in your home town (saving you on travel) or a location that’s special to you. I would say pre-wedding photos are essential and can’t be overlooked.
