Average Cost of Videographer for a Wedding
The average cost depends, like most things, on experience and other factors, too, but at the end of the day, you pay for what you get, as they say. The average ranges from £1,290 to £1,990, with me sitting at a good average. This depends on packages, though, so if you have someone there for an hour, that would be a bit cheaper than someone there all day. It won’t make a big difference for someone to film for an hour instead of a full day; the price would not make that much of a difference. If you book someone for an hour, you are missing out on a significant portion of the day.
What should you budget?
I believe experts suggest allocating 10-20% of your overall budget to wedding videography. Taking into account that the average wedding is £13,000 upwards, this means your videography budget should ideally fall into my price range. All being said, what are you left with after the day? Memories fade over time, which is exactly why you should book as soon as possible, and this should be one of your priorities.

Flexible Payment Plans
I offer flexible payment plans for couples, and you can pay monthly or every once in a while; it’s completely up to you. Receipts are provided, and you can contact me for more info. This can be through bank transfer, cash (if local to me), cheque, PayPal or Revolut. The rest of the payment needs to be paid two months before the day booked.
Factors Affecting Price
Let’s discuss and talk about the factors involved that can influence the cost. Several things are involved, including experience and business costs. The prices aren’t just pulled out of a paper bag randomly, but must be carefully and thoughtfully worked out so they affect costs.
Experience
The experience of the person filming your wedding is another factor to be included in the prices and relates to quality. Videographers with less experience may offer their services at far lower wedding video rates (some might say silly prices) to build their portfolio, and those with years of experience tend to charge higher rates. I know everybody, as I did, starts somewhere, and several newcomer videographers have no experience and are producing some great work. A lot of it is dreadful, though it has to be said. Over time, as their business costs begin to go up for a variety of reasons, their prices will also rise. The best solution is to find a balance between the required quality expectation (i.e., what you expect) and paying a good price for your choice of videographer.
What Package Will You Choose
Various packages offer different hours and coverage, and will take shorter, which will be cheaper or longer, which will be more expensive to edit in post-production; therefore, the price is going to be different.
Business costs
Every business has costs, which will differ in terms of their business, even though they essentially do the same thing. Business costs will also vary, so understandably, this will be a factor when comparing prices. These are a must-have and offer peace of mind for everyone involved, including the videographer, the venue and the couple booking the professional. There are operating costs in running a professional business. Some of the wedding videographer costs include equipment, advertising, accounting, car, income tax and others.
Final Thoughts
Many professional videographers continually invest in retraining and education to keep themselves up-to-date with the latest techniques in the industry, so this is reflected in their cost. To finish off prices and packages, consider all of the running expenses, equipment and time involved in filming and editing.
