Wedding Reviews

I got married last Friday and we had a late cancellation from another photographer, it was a nightmare!  We contacted him and were delighted to hear he could do it!  Not only that he wanted to do a pre-engagement shoot with our kids before the big day which turned out to be amazing!!  On the day he turned up at 11.30 am earlier than organised and throughout the day he got himself to locations and in and around everyone! He worked tirelessly all day until I think about 11.30 pm even though we booked him until 10pm.  The guy is ace I would recommend him to any couples as he was so friendly chatting with our guests making them smile as well as being so professional!  We want to thank you again and we are so looking forward to seeing the images!!" Kyle

…was splendid for wedding photography and was quite difficult to get to as it’s in the centre so I parked further out at Botanic Gardens where we had our pre-wedding photos and walked in. When I arrived I shot some photos of the groom with the best man before the ceremony started…. Thank you for booking me.

One of the best hotels in Belfast is Malone House which is just off the prestigious Malone Road and even though you can have your wedding ceremony and reception you need to seek accommodation elsewhere.

Pre-Wedding Photography Belfast

I’ve got to shoot pre-wedding photography in belfast several times so you will see previous photo shoots on this website. Val and Kyle’s wedding was close but it still didn’t stop us from grabbing a quick pre-wedding photo shoot with the couple and their family at Stormont Estate. This was the first time I photographed a mixed race wedding and it was great from bridal prep up to the couple’s second dance. To go into more detail both sides of the family dressed up in South African clothes and it was great seeing everyone including the families chase clothes into something more colourful and non-traditional.

Wedding Photography Belfast

Charlie and Gary’s House of Worship Belfast Wedding photography with the ceremony in the small church in the Castlereagh area. We took some wedding portraits inside the church and around the corner from the church within walking distance so about 3 minutes walk. There wasn’t much time as the couples had to fly off to Edinburgh so their flight was quite close to the ceremony leaving not a lot of time for wedding photos.

Europa Hotel Wedding

Lauren and Williams Europa Hotel Belfast wedding in the city centre for bridal prep, ceremony in the chapel and the evening reception back.

Bridal Preparations

I was booked as the couple’s Wedding Photographer.  Bridal preparations in the Mosella Suite at Europa Hotel which is very famous are first on the agenda in the morning. The girls were in a smallish room getting ready as there was an MUA already there.  I’m assuming the girls did their hair or the hair stylist had already been earlier and I missed her.  There were some detailed photos like the rings and dresses hanging up and the girls chilling out before getting into their dresses.  At this stage, it’s very light-hearted and casual.

Groom Preparations

Later on in the morning, I headed over to the lads opposite the Europa where the lads were staying but I got zero photos of William here as he just wasn’t ready yet so I took some photos of some of the guests that were in the foyer and outside enjoying a pint on a great day. After a bit of time had passed I was called back to Europa, rather than wasting time waiting for the groom, where the girls were already changed we took some wedding photos at the far end of the corridor as there was a nice spot beside the lamp.  it is owned by Hastings which owns many in Northern Ireland. We then made our way down to the staircase in the foyer for some family wedding photos.

Ceremony

I then headed off to St Mary's on the Hill where I took a couple of the groom and groomsmen before the bride and bridal party arrived in the wedding cars and the ceremony was ready to commence. For a catholic ceremony, the proceedings went very quickly indeed as they usually take the best part of an hour.  A lot quicker than I thought.  The catholic church was quite small and there were a few guests in attendance all from Ireland.  I was taking some candids and behind the scenes as the priest let me walk about which was great as I was getting different angles but as it was quite a small church I was still a bit limited.  After the signings, we took some photos beside the book before making our way to the exit of the church.

It was decided we’d stop off at Hazelbank Park for some bridal photos with the bridal party only.  Unfortunately, it was a bit windy as it was beside the shore so we didn’t get too many bridal portraits here.  We photographed a couple of bridal variations before the bride wanted to head back to the Europa in the city for the evening reception.

Europa Hotel Belfast Wedding

It is very easy to get to as it’s right in the heart of the city right beside both the train and bus stations and within walking distance.  When we got back I shot some wedding room decor before the guests were called in.  It’s always good to do this because when guests because the focus is then on the guests instead of the decor when people come in. I also shot some table photos in the Piano Lounge which is reserved exclusively for guests at the wedding reception before the bride and groom were brought into The Grand Ballroom on the first floor.  The grand ballroom is beside the piano lounge so guests can use both rooms.  There were no speeches afterwards.

Evening Reception

We took some cutting-the-cake photos before it was decided that we should take some family photos of the bride and groom with a couple of the groom’s sides at the back of the room.  We had already taken some of the bride’s side earlier that day in the Europa.  A few more table photos before the bride and groom’s first dance commenced.  This was a bit different as there were about three or four dances (possibly more) before the guests came up for a dance.  First bride and groom, then bride and father, groom with grandmother and finally bride with mother (I think that was about it).  There were plenty of guests and kids up around the dancing watching which was great to see.  I hope you have a great future together Lauren and William, thanks for booking me.

About your Belfast Wedding Photographer

As a solo Belfast wedding photographer, you don’t need more than one as two photographers just get in the way plus you have to feed them too which is a bit of a pain. I can’t see any reason why you’d want two photographers shooting besides for example if you are looking groom prep, the bride is too far away and the photographer can’t get there in good time. Apart from I really can’t see any reason why you’d want two.

You should book someone who’s professional, quick and who knows how to capture your day like me. I’ve had the privilege of capturing the love for Belfast couples just like you and I get the bonus of calling it my job to boot too! Now I travel all across the country capturing the amazing love stories of couples. My wedding photography showcases your love in personal photos. So if you're looking for a wedding photographer in Belfast look no further.

My wedding photography packages are competitive and are a good average. If you also need a photo book or album with a hardback cover I also have a package for this aimed at people in Belfast who want to see their wedding photos in beautiful glossy print. There are so many options for books and albums that I have picked a size as you can see from my wedding packages.

Areas I photograph in

I photograph all over Belfast, north Belfast, east Belfast (also known as Eastside), south and west Belfast for all sides of the community and all walks of life. Breaking it down further some areas I cover are Cathedral Quarter, Titanic Quarter, Linen Quarter, Library Quarter, Queen's Quarter, Gaeltacht Quarter, Shankill, Balmoral, Laganbank, Oldpark, Falls, Belfast Metropolitan Area, The Golden Mile, The Holyland and lots other areas too. Also outside including Carrickfergus and Newtownards.

Merchant Hotel Belfast Wedding

A Merchant Hotel in Belfast wedding is always great as you are right in the centre of Belfast at Cathedral Quarter. The hotel itself is quite luxurious and very much high-end so your wedding photos will reflect this. There are two wings to the hotel Victorian and Deco which are both 5 stars. There are over 60+ bedrooms with 3 restaurants so if you want fine dining or something with more atmosphere the Merchant Hotel has it. If your guests are driving there is plenty of car parking available.

Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park wedding photos as I collected Yvonne in the city centre and we headed to Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park. What can I say about a spot, what a great location outside. The dress was kindly loaned by Dresselicious. This is a great spot for your Belfast wedding as they are lots of areas within walking distance including, if you get the right time of year a rose garden. It was a very bright sunny day with a slight breeze, maybe even too bright. There were a couple of areas we shot at within the park and we tried a few variations incorporating my prism to distort some of the images trying to make some of the images a bit more stylist, best not to overuse this though.
