Ely Lodge Forest Engagement Photos with Abigail and Darren in the spring, as the couple booked for a session near Enniskillen beside Lower Lough Erne.
We met in the car park and started with you guessed it, some active type walking photos. I usually ask if the couple are ok with some kissing-type pictures, and most of the time, that’s what they want. I photographed a wide range of photos, ranging from wide shots showing more of Ely Lodge Forest and its surroundings, to medium-type photos, to close-ups. Colour and mono to break things up a bit, as you can’t go wrong with black and white images. Make beautiful photo prints. I didn't see too many boats on the water, but there were one or two beside the jetties.
It’s usually great to have some ideas beforehand, and I do a bit of research online. As there could be a lot of green at the location, I would advise outfits and clothes that contrast with spring colours, in other words, don’t wear green! The reason is that you will just blend in too much and get lost in all the greenery, such as the bright spring trees and grass.

I’d never heard of Ely Lodge Forest in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, but as usual with forests in Northern Ireland, the location was beautiful! Magnificent for photography. Ely Lodge Forest sits beside Lower Lough Erne and rises to the Carrickreagh viewpoint across the A46 Shore Road. Did you know Ely Lodge Forest was formerly part of the Marquis of Ely's estate and is now a great location for walking, with some lakeshore trails offering views of the lough.

Notes to read before heading to Ely Forest
The forest has a few great spots that it is hard to pinpoint just one. The best time of the year is spring, but I would say summer and autumn would be nice too. If heading here in the spring, though, make sure to wear clothes that are not too heavy but not too light. Maybe a light jacket would do? Wear a colour that contrasts with the greens and browns displayed in the forest, as you can see from my images. The small car park is free where we parked. The car park is quite small, though.
