Barn Wedding Venues

A rustic barn wedding venue in Ireland is always breathtaking, extremely popular and makes a great alternative to traditional as the building itself is quite rustic as it may have been a working barn at one point in the past. The venue itself would have transformed the barn into a fabulous wedding venue, so there is no need to worry about cobwebs and the like. Many couples, including older couples, rightly so, choose a barn as they want to celebrate in both a rustic picture house setting. It needs to be mentioned these types of venues vary in size from small to larger, so please keep this in mind. Romantic wedding venues in Ireland offer many venues you could certainly say are romantic. Forest wedding venues in the country have many forests, which may be for brides and grooms who like the countryside and forests. Affordable or cheap wedding venues as brides and grooms may not be able to afford a more expensive venue. Many different wedding venues in Ireland are certainly worth checking out.

Questions to ask the Wedding Venue before booking

Some advice and questions to ask the wedding venue before booking, just in case you have never done any viewings before.

  1. Tasters of the food.

  2. When are the final numbers due with no changes, some are 72 hours before the day, so anyone who drops out after that may have to pay for them.

  3. Minimum guest numbers.

  4. Is there going to be any renovation work or changes between now and the date of the wedding?

  5. Is there a venue hire fee on top of the price per person, as a lot of places don’t make that very clear?

  6. What is your minimum number allowed? e.g. if you invite 100 and your minimum number allowed is 90, and only 80 show up, you still have to pay for 90.

  7. Do they allow confetti?

  8. Are there different prices for children and teenagers?

  9. Corkage fee if you supply your wine.

  10. If they have special rates for the block booking of additional rooms for guests.

  11. If being the only wedding on site that day is important to you both, check that that is their policy.

  12. You have a named coordinator with a timeline for assistance during your planning.

  13. That you can have alcohol favours if that’s your thing.

  14. Ask if they have a set list of ‘must use’ suppliers and if there is a ‘penalty’ clause if you don’t want to use them.

  15. They're cancellation policies from your perspective as well as theirs.

  16. What in-house decor will be on display, and do they have or offer a decor package? If so, what price range is this?

  17. Are dogs allowed?

Only relevant if you want your pup in the ceremony

  18. Accommodation is available for the night before and the night off.

  19. Their favoured or proposed structure of the day; we spoke with a wonderful coordinator who mapped it all out so well that it was very reassuring!

  20. Spots are on-site is there somewhere to go for pictures indoors if the weather is poor?

  21. Any other suppliers added event-related props (LED dancefloor, for example) etc. that AREN’T allowed.

  22. How long is the date held for?

  23. Is there a cancellation fee?

  24. How much of a deposit is required to secure the date, and when is the final payment due?

  25. Is there a clean-up fee?

The Right Wedding Venue for you

Is there a perfect wedding venue? I’m afraid not, but you can get as close as possible to perfect. Here are a few things to consider and what to look for when choosing the right Wedding Venue for you. Choosing the right wedding venue is often the first thing you think of when starting to plan your wedding. One of the most difficult parts is knowing where to start! Do you need a wedding venue to accommodate both families, or are you after a wedding venue that is a little smaller, more intimate wedding, and personal? Do you like the idea of a hotel, a barn or a castle?

Are you looking for an outdoor wedding ceremony, as this needs some special consideration? What if the weather goes bad is there a plan B for your outdoor wedding ceremony? Outdoor weddings are tricky in Ireland, I’m afraid, so please be careful.

When choosing your venue, be careful not to fall into the trap of arranging visits to every venue you’ve ever heard of amidst all of your excitement. Not only will this leave you feeling confused and overwhelmed, but you may also end up just choosing a venue to get the decision made and, therefore, missing out on what could be your dream venue. I recommend sitting down and chatting about what your vision for your wedding day is – deciding if you want a relaxed venue where friends and family can chill out all day or perhaps a luxury hotel with a stunning interior and modern luxury design. It’s also important to keep in mind your budget when choosing your wedding venue.

Which wedding venues in Ireland have you been to before? Have you attended friends’ or family’s weddings before you were engaged? Likely, you weren’t over-analysing every part of the day compared to now when all you seem to think about is your dream day. Try to think back to those weddings and what you enjoyed about each of them or perhaps what didn’t do it for you. Sit down with your partner and start to make a list of what you require (such as location and capacity) and what you would like.

Go online and look around to see what wedding venue you can find. A quick search on Google will start you off, and from there, you can narrow down to your favourites. Check out their wedding section on the website, email the wedding planner, ask them some questions and see what they can do for you.

Once you’ve (fingers crossed) fallen in love with a couple of venues, it’s time to get in contact with them to arrange a viewing. This is a great opportunity for you both to go along and see the venue yourselves and get lots more info. When you’re choosing your venue, it’s important to go prepared with a list of questions or information that you want to find out. You want to know what’s ahead so there are no surprises further down the line. Ask them lots of questions.

Winter weddings are cheaper as they are off-season, and summers are more expensive, so this could be something to think about. With a winter wedding, you may not have the sun and weather.
