Wedding Photography and Video Frequently Asked Questions

Wedding photography Frequently Asked Questions, FAQs and other questions you might have before booking. These are asked often, so I am listing them here. Please read through for more info, and if you need to know anything else, don’t hesitate to contact your wedding photographer, thank you. These are important to ask and know before booking. FAQs before your actual wedding that you might be interested to know. These are questions and answers before your wedding.

How can we book you?

To book, the first thing you should do is check if I'm available on your date by contacting me, and I will be in touch quickly with booking instructions. I keep the booking procedure simple.

How long will you stay?

I stay as long or short as you want (within reason), and that’s up to you, but generally, from bridal prep to the first and second dance is the ideal length. If you just want me for the ceremony only, that’s perfectly fine, or if you want me for a couple of hours, that's no problem too, but the price isn’t much different.

Are there any travel costs?

There are no travel costs within NI and over the border in ROI within 2 hour’s drive from the border. All my prices and packages include travel in the price, so I do not need to worry about that.

Can we spread costs?

You can spread the costs and pay a little whenever you want, or each month, I provide a receipt. The final amount needs to be paid before the wedding day, though.

What packages do you offer?

I offer a few different wedding photography packages to suit you, and you can check them out. If there is something else you need not on this page, just let me know.

Do you shoot the same sex?

I sure do, as I’m a same-sex wedding photographer, I shoot anyone and everyone. After all, love is love.

How long afterwards do we receive photos?

I aim to deliver wedding photos within 3-4 weeks after your wedding day; this could be a bit longer in the summer months. If you order an album, this will take a little bit longer, but usually 2-3 weeks after you approve album proof.

Do I get all digital images, and in what format?

You get all digital images and I provide all your photos full resolution JPEGs on an engraved wooden USB if your package comes with that.

How many wedding photos do we receive?

The number of wedding photos you receive varies by how long I'm there for, but usually, a full day is 800+. If I’m there for a couple of hours, you’d get quite a few less.

Is it worth the cost?

A wedding photographer is most certainly worth the cost! Do you seriously want to look back on your wedding day with a bunch of random crappy smartphone photos? Oh jeepers!

How much should it cost?

It shouldn't cost any less for a wedding photographer than what I’m charging, but it depends on experience and a few other things, too. It can cost a lot more, though, so I’ve worked out a good average.

Do you need some food?

Yes, some grub and food on the day at tea time would be great, please, but nothing fancy. Just a small bar snack would do me. I often get a full, great meal, but a sandwich will do the job, too.

Can we meet?

We can arrange a meeting to discuss your requirements, or we can arrange a Facetime or Zoom chat. We can meet up at the pre-wedding photo shoot if you have one booked, but if you'd like to meet up before this, contact me.

Should I book one or two photographers?

In my opinion, you should book one wedding photographer as you don’t need two, two is just overkill. Book one, who moves quite a lot (like myself), can get different angles. Two just get in the way.

Will the pictures be uploaded?

Some wedding pictures and images (not all, though) will be uploaded on my website. They are picked by myself to best represent the day. They are final and won’t be deleted, although if you're not big on one or two, I don’t mind not uploading. If you don’t want me to upload any, please don’t book me.

What if we lose the USB?

If you lose the wedding USB, you can contact me anytime in the future for up to 3 years; this will cost £290.

In the event of inappropriate conduct (including but not limited to physical or verbal violence), I reserve the right to exit the premises to maintain personal safety.

How much does an average wedding cost?

Your wedding can be expensive, but the price can vary depending on where you choose to get married or have your reception. In the UK, Northern Ireland was found to be the fourth cheapest place to get married, with an average cost of £13,000 (poll in 2019) (source).

Is this your real job?

Yes, I’m a wedding photographer.

Do you cover other types of photography?

Yes, I shoot engagements and couples, families and communions. If you have something different or are interested in any of these, get in touch!

Are you insured?

Yes, I am insured with photo insurance if your venue is asking for proof, just let me know, and I can send a copy to them.

Are 6 hours of wedding photography enough?

On the one hand, 6 hours of wedding photography is enough, and on the other, it's not.  Why?  Well, if you book a wedding photographer for bridal prep up to speeches, you are missing the fantastic party atmosphere of your reception and your first dance.  You could ask a friend or family member to shoot these on their iPhones, and they will look truly… awful!  If you book for the ceremony up to the first dance, you miss the bridal and, if possible, groom preparations and what happens before the ceremony, which to me is important as family and friends could be there.  If this isn't important to you, then yes, 6 hours is enough.

Wedding Videography Frequently Asked Questions

Wedding video FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) and other info you might find useful before booking your wedding videographer. It’s important to ask a few questions before booking them, as this saves confusion at a later date. Simply below, but you can still contact me for any questions.

How long does it take to get?

It will take 4 to 5 weeks to get your wedding video. This could be a bit longer in the summer months due to the busy season, but I will still try my best to have it ready in 4 to 5 weeks.

Are there any travel costs?

There are no travel costs within Northern Ireland and a 2-hour drive in Ireland from BT63 5HD, as this is included in the price.

Do you film with a drone?

Yes, I film with a drone, this depends on the weather and time. There are generally just a few shots with the drone.

Can I pick music?

I will try to use whatever music you have picked for your first dance, but the version I have on my website and social media may be different due to copyright issues.

Can I make changes?

No, there can’t be changes due to the time it takes to make changes, i.e. ages, but if you have any requirements, brief me BEFORE the day.

What if I want to make the highlights video longer?

You can’t, as that would no longer be a highlights video. A highlight video should be a short, concise video of your day, not dragging on any particular part of the day. All footage and audio will be saved separately.

What if we lose the USB?

You can contact me anytime in the future for up to 3 years; this costs £290.

What if I need to email again?

This can be emailed two times max, then I’ll not email again, you will need to purchase a standard USB, which costs £290.

Are you looking fed?

Yes, if I could be fed and watered at tea time at the bar, that would be great, even a snack would be super.

How can we book?

Please read all the info on this page and then contact me first to check if I’m available. To book me, visit wedding video booking.

Are you insured?

Yes, I am. The majority of reputable wedding videographers will have insurance in place, including video equipment, professional indemnity and public liability.

Will the video be uploaded?

Yes, the video will be uploaded on my website, social media and YouTube. If you want me to tag you on social media, please let me know otherwise, I won’t. If you don’t want me to upload any video, please don’t book me.

Is this your real job?

Yes, it certainly is.
